Laurel Diner in Soutdbury

First time there in decades. Wanted to try the corned beef hash. Excellent. As good as my parents home made used to be. Home fries tasty and not dripping in grease. 5 star breakfast.

Great old style diner. Quick service like years ago. The owner is one of the hardest working guys you will ever meet and he is the one cooking your food.

Always the best.2019.09.22 Today my wife and I took our son-in-law to what he described as a beautiful experience. I had the Kiki, my wife the eggs Benedict, and he had eggs with home fries and Canadian bacon. Everything was perfect: the meal, the service, and the conviviality of this wonderful diner.

Great place to meet friends for breakfast!

I driven by this tiny little place for years, until one day I decided to go in. What a surprise! Friendly staff, cozy environment and over all, AMAZING food. The home fries are to die for. The cinnamon roll melts in your mouth. Overall, a great experience. There’s is a wait to be seated. It’s so popular that you have to be patient and wait, but trust me the wait is worth it.

This is a great diner. Food is the best to find for breakfast. Small restaurant. But wait staff is so friendly and owner/chef Peter is the best. My wife and I go often

This restaurant is my favorite. I eat in a lot of restaurants but to this place I keep coming back again and again. The team is very chummy and the cuisine they cook is so appetizing. I am always happy to have a decent meal here. I recommend this place with pleasure.

This lil greasespot style side car diner is a throwback classic inna modern era! This place has staying power for one simple word and that word is consistency...they execute all their dishes very well and everything tastes fresh and homemade. I have long searched for a place that makes legit corned beef hash n tbh theirs is the REAL DEAL! Just the right amount of coriander and pepper! This place makes their own and you can tell theirs love in every bite. A return destination and one that will be in rotation for a long time. Come down and check em out they do a great hollandaise as well!

The best things come from small packages! I have only had the breakfasts the many times I have been there but it is delicious! It is interesting to watch the cooking. process as well. Parking is tricky.

Great breakfast. Didn't have to wait on a Saturday am. Loved the pancakes and the omelettes and hash browns. Service was friendly and fast. Cost is reasonable and they only take cash. A smaller number of tables but they have a large counter and the food was worth the wait if we had waited.

Awesome place! Great food! Nice staff! Fast service! I’ve been coming here for years. They have the best corn beef hash and banana pancakes! Just a warning this is comfort food at its best. If you don’t like flavor(butter) don’t go. Seating is limited so I would not suggest it for a party of more then four.

Pete makes the best home fries and the best corned beef. I have never had a bad meal here. Miles above and beyond Chip's. His pancakes are way better than Chips!Seriously you won't be disappointed here.

What more could anyone want than a cozy diner that only has a few tables, windows that let you watch the snowflakes, barstools that look like they’re straight out of the 40s, great food and friendly waitstaff. And for three dollars, you can buy your own coffee mug that is a genuine throwback to the 40s. My son really loved the Eminem pancakes, my daughter loved her oatmeal, and I fully enjoyed my omelette. World class breakfast.

This is a hidden gem we lucked into while traveling. The best corned beef hash I've ever had. EVER. The restaurant is small, warm and cozy. Service is warm and friendly.

All locals, can be intimidating but once you sit down, staff is nice and blueberry pancakes are AMAZING.

Everything's delicious in a small, friendly, local diner setting with every table being a window seat and counter stools are front seats to the chef at the griddle. Comfort foods at their best, especially if you're not counting calories or dealing with a restricted diet. You'll love the Belgian waffles and pancakes! Great place to meet your friends. Directly on Main St.

Wow. I have a new breakfast spot. Tried the Irish Benedict eggs as suggested, and while my heart is a bit less healthy, my taste buds are thrilled. So yummy!! Very reasonable prices. Coffee was nothing special, but I appreciated the prompt and free refills.

Favorite Breakfast spot around!!!

Cash only. There was a piece of wood in my $4 breakfast sandwich. Didn't have cash and they made me leave collateral to guarantee that I would return with cash after going to the atm down the road. Rather than giving it to me on the house because there was a piece of WOOD in it. Not many options in this sleepy town for a weekday breakfast when passing through. Next time I'll go to McDonalds.

Comfort food at it's best

These are the hometown places I love to go to. Got cinnamon roll french toast. Wow. So amazing if you like something sweet.

During our year long search for a home in the area and now, for the year and a half of our residency in Southbury, we have frequented and thoroughly enjoyed Laurel Diner many times. I don’t give 5 Stars lightly, but Laurel deserves every one of them! Authentic, great value, clean and friendly! We’re on our way for another treat this morning!!

This place literally is the goat. None of these other places in town compare an they should probably just close up shop. Really home made flavor and consistent. We can go there and know it will taste the way it did every time before that. Really feels like home, always feels welcoming, the perfect Sunday morning breakfast joint.

went last weekend with my husband. the tiniest, cutest place. it reminded me of a diner you'd see in a Hallmark movie 😂 but the food, it was amazing. the hash was the best hash I've ever had, and I've had hash all over the country! seriously good 🤤
